We will be holding our Summer Specialty Show on Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Queen Mary Park next to the RMS Queen Mary and overlooking beautiful Long Beach Harbor.  Download premium here.   Following the Friday shows, GWTA will be holding a Sanction B Match.  Download match flyer.   Following on Saturday & Sunday, the Great Western Terrier Association (GWTA) will be holding their Terrier Group shows.  Download GWTA premium here.

On Monday & Tuesday, June 24 & 25, the fun continues with GWTA holding their Earthdog trials at Canyon RV park in Anaheim.  Download premium list here.   Also there will be a Barnhunt and Lure Coursing!  On Tuesday afternoon there will be an AWTA Den Trial.  Download premium list.

But wait, there is more!  On Friday, Saturday & Sunday, June 29 & 30 & July 1st, the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills & Long Beach Kennel Club will be holding their all-breed shows at Queen Mary Park.  Please join us!

Please Oppose SB 969 Pet Grooming Bill!

SB969 has passed the Senate Business, Professional and Economic Development Committee and has passed the Senate Appropriations Committee, and now goes to the full House.  Please contact the committee members and your own Senator  about SB969.

  • This bill would further strain the state’s budget for a program regulating the bathing and brushing of pets.
  • The proposed council would be composed primarily of individuals who know nothing about professional grooming practices.
  • This bill would adversely affect dog show handlers, groomers and junior handlers under the age of 18, all of whom groom for financial compensation.
  • The exact type of pet covered by this bill is not specified; it could be any sort of pet from a hamster to a horse.

Club Meeting on Saturday during the Mission Circuit

BTCOSC will be holding their annual meeting on Saturday, May 26th at 5:00PM during the “Mission Circuit” at the Pomona Fairgrounds.  The meeting will be held on the east side of the grooming buildings and will include a potluck.

The Mission Circuit is four days of dog shows held at the Pomona Fairgrounds.  Border Terriers will be showing at the following times:

Friday at 10:00AM in ring 16

Saturday at 1:50PM in ring 7

Sunday at 2:45PM in ring 6

Monday at 10:10AM in ring 10

OEDC Health Clinic May 21st & June Matches

New Earthdog Titleists!

Congratulations to our members who finished their Earthdog titles this weekend!

Dana Dacier and Georgia (Sunkist Georgia Q. Brown JE) finished their JE this weekend.  Georgia got her first Rally Novice leg recently so she is on a roll!

Lyn McArthur finished Brynne & Skye’s JE this weekend!  This is a first title for Brynne which makes her Gemstone’s Toast of the Town JE and Skye is now CH Skyline Jewel CD MX MXJ JE.

Magi Rufle and Hubble finished their JE.  Hubble is now CH Lndi’s Inaugural Secret Service RN JE!  Hubble’s dad, Harris also recently completed his ME which makes him CH Lndi’s Show Me Ten-Eight CD RN ME.

Magi Rufle’s little blue girl Lacy got a JE leg this weekend.  I am sure we will get to see the rest of her when she finishes her title.  Highlands Almost Midnight CDX RN AX AXJ.

Spunky finished his EE3 (Endurance Earthdog 3) this weekend.  CH Ottermask Hollywood Hero NA OAJ ME EE3 owner/handlers John Ruege and Rich Griswold.

New Rally Regulations Effective April 4th

As most of you are aware, changes have been made to the AKC Rally Regulations that go into effect on April 4th.   These changes include some minor revisions in judging standards and revised numbers for the Rally signs plus new signs.  To help exhibitors and judges to become familiar with the changes, the AKC has posted the following information on their website:

1. 2012 AKC Rally Regulations.

2. A complete set of Rally Signs with numbering & new signs.

3. Label template to be used to renumber old signs.

4. Implementation date of  regulations.

5. Videos of new Rally signs.
