Updates for scheduled events for our club:
Agility trials scheduled for April 25/26 have been cancelled.
Mission Circuit, including out designated specialty on Saturday, May 23 have been cancelled.
Due to the risks associated with the COVID-19 virus, we will not be holding either the April meeting or the May Annual meeting.
We will move the annual meeting to a date later this year, once the CDC and local authorities determine it is safe to gather in numbers. Annual awards forms will be mailed out once we determine when we can hold the meeting.
Regarding nominations that could be received from the floor at the April meeting, should someone want to run for office, a letter stating who is nominating and an acceptance by the person nominated, may be mailed to Star Ott, either emailed or postmarked dated no later than April 26, 2020.
If no nominations are received, the nominating committee slate will assume office on June 1, 2020, per the constitution and by laws.
Best wishes to each of you as we get through this difficult time.
At this time, the agility trials are still planning to be held. I have been in contact with Lynda Tjark’s organization and they have a plan in place to follow the guidelines for minimizing risks to exhibitors and workers at the trials. Normally, I would ask for volunteers to work the trials, but with all the concerns for Covid-19, I would like to encourage each member to do what they feel is appropriate.
The April club meeting will be held on Sunday, April 26, following the conclusion of the trials. At that time, additional nominations may be received from the floor. The slate proposed by the nominating committee has been emailed to all club members on March 15, 2020.
Our club is sponsoring a booth at the upcoming Silver Bay Kennel Club Meet the Breeds during the weekend of February 22 & 23, 2020. Members are encouraged to contact Lisa or Beth Jury to sign up for working times.
The next club meeting will be held on Sunday at 3pm, following the conclusion of the Meet the Breeds event. At that meeting, the nominating committee will be set up to determine a slate of officers and board members. If you are interested in being on the committee, please email Star Ott (email@example.com) or Lisa Jury (firstname.lastname@example.org). You will need to be present at the meeting. The committee needs to meet in person and have the slate to the secretary by March 1. Nominating committee consists of one board member and two club members.
The board will be reviewing the by-laws and proposing modifications to the nominating committee requirements. Please take a minute to review the by-laws and send any changes or questions to Star Ott (email@example.com).
Our January specialty will be held during the Friday, January 3, 2020 Desert Empire Terrier Specialty show at Empire Polo Fields in Indio. Information regarding the show will be posted on Jack Bradshaw’s website http://www.jbradshaw.com.
The club meeting will be held one hour after judging is complete at the Tack Room, located near the handicapped parking area.
Our annual fall earth dog tests and Spooktacular, with it’s costume contest and Farm Hunt, will be this coming weekend October 26 & 27. Set up is on Friday (Oct 25) at 11 am.
